Astrology Talk: The Introduction

Over the course of the last several months, I have been more vocal about my interest in Astrology. On my Instagram I discuss the moon phases, the zodiac, and the day to day movements of the planets. I wasn't sure anyone would listen nor would they be interested in what I always seemed to think of as "a weird quirk," of mine. But to my surprise, I've had great feedback and many questions about individual signs and what specific things mean; and I thought, Maybe I could bring astrology to my blog? - This could be a way to have longer, more in-depth discussions and serve as a platform to have more conversations and reach a (hopefully) wider audience. Before I dive right into everything Universal and Astrology related, I want to answer she F.A.Q's about my background with the Astro world so we can better dive in together with understanding.

Have You Always Been into Astrology?

A current trend that seems to be popular is the Horoscope. I see everywhere now that people, predominantly teenagers, are starting to dig more into their Zodiac. And that's great, and I think it's important. So while, Yes, it could appear that my love for Astro is recent due to the rapid increase of Zodiac acknowledgement...My interest started long before this current worldly fad. I remember always being the kid who loved to look up at the stars and be under the moon - it was a whole different world and I was intrigued. I just thought it was part of my free-spirit, hippie child nature. For me, the real love started in 6th Grade. 2001. and I was on our schools "6th Grade Camp" camping trip. There is one specific night where we were all outside sitting under the stars and learning about the constellations and the planets. Hercules, Orion, Pegasus, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor and the name of the brightest start was Polaris. Of course when you're breaking it down to children it's  taught as, "Orions Belt, Hercules like the movie, Big Dipper, Little Dipper". I was absolutely fascinated and probably the only one as my classmates were excited to just be out past our bedtimes. But I remember realizing how big of a world is out there, and how there is life beyond our little home we call Earth. Crazy right?

When Did you Start Learning about Astrology?

After that, I spent time getting familiar with the constellations, the stars, and the zodiacs. I found out that I was a Gemini and I hit the ground running with it. I cannot tell you how many times throughout my life I refer to my Gemini Side. If you talk to me in person than you have totally heard me say it at least once but I'm going to take a leap and say you've heard me say "I'm a Gemini" or "It's the Gemini in me,"  more than once. And it's true - I am a Gemini to my core and proud of it. And while most of the time the reply is "I'm not into the zodiac so I don't know what that means," It still feels good to say and sometimes I find that person goes home and looks up what they are. *(My Jedi mind trick). I started with getting my hands on all the books I could that were in the library of our little elementary school. Sadly, my 6th grade teacher was a History Buff so our specific room had more books about war and mummies. When I got to middle school I was excited to have a full dedicated class to science; of course that backfired when I realized it wasn't going to be a class strictly on astrology; I really enjoyed that part of the lesson though. Still, I found myself in the library with a good astrology book. This is also the year that I learned all about Gemstones and Crystals, which was important seeing as I got my first set of crystals in 5th grade. (more on that later)

What is your favorite part of Astro? (moon, stars, planets, etc)

As I got older, year after year of science class - I found myself diving deeper into the Zodiac and everything Astro. But, as kids can be, if something is seen as weird we suppress it. So nobody knew about my love for the stars. Sleeping outside on our trampoline was my favorite because I got to point out constellations, I got to remind myself of the planet names, and I got to feel the energy from the moon. I'm a firm believer in the moon, it's actually a problem. But not really, just a deep rooted obsession. I continued to set out to learn as much as I could. I got books, which I hid behind my dresser, and by this time, the internet was a big thing - Hey Myspace! So I used Google to the fullest advantage. I learned all about the phases of the moon and all the metaphysical beliefs and universal powers behind each phase. This is when I started my practice of living by the moon in conjunction with my horoscope of my Gemini Zodiac. I was around 15 or 16. This is when I discovered what a Natal Birth Chart was. I have a post coming on this soon! And when I was able to discover how in sync the Zodiac/Horoscope to the Moon/Planets was - Everything Clicked - and we've been in a committed relationship ever since.

What made you start talking about Astrology?

If you are an avid reader of my blog, or you follow me on any platform of social media - Then you know that I've been going through quite a bit of change recently. And one of those things is falling back into a relationship with myself. Self-Care and Self-Love appear to be the most important thing in my life right now and they totally are. SR and I had a conversation about my confidence recently. I've allowed myself to dig deeper into what makes me happy and what I want out of life; for myself and for our marriage. With that I have had to do a lot of soul searching and I've had to change a lot of things up which included cutting a lot of things out of my life that no longer felt comfortable being in my space. People, Places, and Materialistic Things. All Gone, like a pick-axe to a Ice Cube. Gone. And I am being reacquainted with all the little parts of be that I once loved - Like my love for astrology. That's what made me start talking about Astrology. I let go of all the fears, the doubts, and the low-self esteem. I'm in a current phase of finding my place and talking about Astrology is just a small, but important part of that adventure.

I have so many topics to discuss, so many things to share - and I would love nothing more than to begin this Astro-Conversation with all of you. Let's learn together, Let's support each other in the special little things that we all love. And Let's Explore.
