2016 Blogging Goals

I really wish I could tell you that I'm writing this post from my totally girly office space while I sip on some iced tea and look out of my window at a beautiful sunny sky. But reality is: I'm sitting on my couch, wearing pajamas, sipping on hot tea, and listening to the rain storm that's going on outside. I like this reality, tbh.

Yesterday I took the time to reflect on twenty-fifteen by doing a Year in Review. As a blogger I am really proud of myself this year because I feel as if I wrote more this year than I have in the last couple of years. When I first deleted my old blog to start this one I was completely lost and afraid. I didn't know what I was doing. All I knew was that I loved being a writer and everything else just seemed to come to me naturally. I wrote a lot this year, and for the first time in my blogging career  hobbie I actually felt good about what I was writing. Like my words, advice, hacks, tips and tricks mattered. I've been really happy working on my blog in 2015.

Reflecting back on my year has really helped me shape my goals for this upcoming year; not just for my little blog space but for my life in general. Grabbing a pen and paper really helped those thoughts come to life. And today, I'm sharing with you my,longish, list of Goals I have for myself in twenty-sixteen. xo, Enjoy!

Twenty-Sixteen Blogging Goals

Improve My Photography. To be completely honest I am much better at writing than I am behind a camera. But I love seeing blogs with amazing photos to match with their content. So my goal is to improve my photography skills and get better pictures involved in my posts.

Write more useful content. Not that I don't already think my tips and tricks are pretty useful. But I'm really envious of these bloggers that can put out a new DIY and How-to Every day!! I'm really hoping to improve my skills of writing useful content.

Improve Blog Design//Navigation. I am completely jealous of bloggers whose sites are super professional looking. I know that's because they were professionally made but for someone who is a DIY Kind of Blog designer. I spend a lot of time googling things like "How to get a floating media share button" - in which I haven't figured out how to do yet. but I will in 2016. Hopefully.

Host a Link Up. I tried hosting a link up a while back, like maybe a year or so ago. and it failed. Mostly because I don't have many followers, and two because I probably did it wrong. But with a growing follower-rate I am hoping I can get a successful link up.

Have a//Be a Guest Blogger: I love reading guest posts on sites. I really think it's neat that we are in a community where we don't want to be greedy with our work. We love helping people and inspiring each other. And I would really love to do more guest posts as well as have some guests on my post! **let me know if you're interested.

Increase my Following. This is my #1 goal for the new year. I know its not all about the numbers but I really love reading the comments that I do receive and I really love interaction. I often feel like I'm writing for nothing and that nobody is seeing my posts. So I really hope that this new year will bring me new followers and new friends.

Follow More Blogs. I tend to stay in my little circle of who I follow because I'm picky sometimes. and nervous. But lately I've been branching out and following more blogs and interacting more. Which has definitely helped me get traffic on my blog space.

Grow Instagram + Twitter. I have two instagrams: one is my personal instagram and one is for my makeup looks and tips. I'm really hoping to incorporate my blog more into my beauty instagram as well as gain more of a following on both my instagram (@ashleefelkner) and Twitter (@ashleefelkner).

Stick to a Blogging Schedule. This has been a goal I have been working with in twenty-fifteen that I'm hoping to stick to in twenty-sixteen. Sometimes I get really overwhelmed because I feel like I HAVE to write something just to get content out. But I learned that when I schedule a day and time for a post, it gives me time to get a post written and the content acceptable.

Decide what "Type" of Blogger I am. I saw this goal on a fellow bloggers post and It really made me think. I have no idea what type of a blogger I am. I like writing about everything. Health, Lifestyle, Beauty, Relationships etc. So I never know what to call myself. ** Are you a versatile blogger too? What do you associate yourself with in the community?

Connect with more San Diego Bloggers. I love connecting with bloggers all over the world, but I'm also envious of girls who have met fellow bloggers in their same town. I'd really like to connect with a blogger who lives in the San Diego area because I honestly only know of maybe 2. Where my SD ladies at???

Have a Plan. Let's be real here, there are some days when we wake up, realize we didn't have a scheduled post for today, and so we sit down and try to write something just so we can meet our posting requirement. I do it, you do it, we all do it. I like to live on the wild side, but sometimes the wild side has me shit-out-of luck when it comes to posting. And so, I want to have a plan. I want to have ideas in advance.

Don't be so hard on myself. They say you are your worst critic right? Well that is so damn true because I think every time I post content I find myself going "Why did you say that? Why did you use that picture or that wording? Great, Nobody is going to like this because you sound like an idiot. Oh look still no followers, oh look still no comments." But I need to remind myself that my time will come. I will wake up one day and have 5k followers and more comments to read than I could imagine! I'm also blogging because I love writing and I started this adventure because of that very reason. Be kind to yourself, ashlee michelle, in twenty-sixteen!!
