Sincerely, The Graduate.

On Saturday, May 16th at 4pm...this here blogger was dressed up in a long black gown and a sparkly pink cap with a tassel that said 2015. I stepped into a pavilion filled with the friends and family of my 550 graduating classmates. I sat through some amazing, inspiring speeches, and almost 2 hours later I walked across the staged and earned my diploma. I now hold my Associates Degree in Child Development. and I couldn't be more proud of myself for this long awaited accomplishment.

It's amazing what you can do when you are determined. I switched my major about 3 times and kept wondering if I would be happy with what I decided to focus on. Isn't that what we all do in college? My college process has been a very slow one, and most of the time I wanted to give up and walk away. I wanted to start Cosmetology school right away and just get started with working in a Salon like I have always longed to do. But, somewhere along the way - my mind was changed. I decided to buckle down and finish what I started many years ago, and that is to be the first in my family to graduate college. and now that I have walked across that stage and turned my tassel. I couldn't be more excited and proud that I made the decision to stick through it. Now that I have finished this Goal, I will continue on with my next Goal. Cosmetology School. and perhaps, if time permits it, I will work on my Bachelors Degree. because i've now learned, that the Sky is NOT the limit...but rather the start. I can do anything and I can go anywhere I want in this life. Nobody can bring me down. Nobody can force me to quit or give up on my Goals. And I am excited to see where I find myself next. Because who knows - I may find myself crossing that stage again and turning another tassel.

For those of you whom are still struggling through College or about to start your Journey. Focus. Believe in yourself. Believe in your potential. Push through the hardships. Drink a lot of Coffee. Make friends. Join a Study Group. Get a Tutor. Remember why you started this Journey. Find your band of people. Surround yourself with people who want to succeed. Make time to study. Find something you love to do - even if it takes you 3 times. You can do it. Don't let anyone tell you that you will fail. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for where you are in life. Shoot beyond the stars. You can do anything you set your mind too. There is no better feeling than surprising yourself and doing something that makes you smile. Go get that Diploma, It doesn't matter in what form..Just go get it. You won't regret working towards a better future for yourself.

Sincerely,
The Graduate.
