My 2 Favorite Healthy Breakfasts

OHMYGOODNESS. It's 3:20pm as I write this but I had finals this morning so can you
blame me for having an afternoon blog post? I'm telling you, the struggle is real.

Let's talk breakfast shall we?
I am not nor will ever be a breakfast kind of gal. Getting out of bed each morning is even a struggle for me so there is no way in heck I am dragging myself to the kitchen and making a breakfast. Coffee on the other hand..gimmie, gimmie! For the last 3 weeks I have taken on a nanny job for 3 days a week and it requires me to not only be up with the sun as it rises, but it requires me to have energy enough to chase around a 16 month old until he gets tired and takes his mid-morning nap. And depending on the day it could be anywhere from 8am to 10:30am, which usually lands me cross-eyed and crying from the lack of energy. So, I've been making myself get some sort of food in the morning.

I alternate the days in which I eat yogurt and fruit OR a smoothie. It really just depends how tired I am that morning and what I feel like having. Usually, I opt for the smoothie because they are yummy.

So today, I bring you my 2 favorite GO TO "kind of a breakfast" breakfast. My Favorite Yogurt/Fruit Mix and My Favorite Smoothie.

Yogurt and Fruit Bowl

Berries are my fave. Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, and Blackberries = I could eat all day long. I love cutting them up and throwing them into a bowl with Greek Yogurt. Sometimes I use plain yogurt and sometimes I use a flavored kind (vanilla and strawberry is my usual). But I never eat greek yogurt alone, I don't think it tastes that good by itself. But it's super healthy for you. #thestruggle. Then I top my bowl off with Flax Seeds. I am all about chia seeds, and then I got introduced to Flax seeds which are just as good for you. They have omega-3's and a whole bunch of fiber for you. Win, Win! This breakfast is quick, simple, yummy...and most importantly HEALTHY!


Don't get me wrong, I love making weird smoothies. I love kale, carrots, mango, peaches, celery, EVERYTHING in my smoothies. I love throwing things in my smoothies that make my Husband go "Uhm, What are you drinking?" because it makes me giggle that I'm being healthy even though it looks gross. But, on early mornings when I am in a rush or I am chasing around a little guy. I like throwing together my easy Strawberry, Banana, Spinach Smoothie. Or what I like to call it "Strawnanaich Smoothie."

Depending on how much of the smoothie I want, I am usually alternating measurements of stuff.
My Typical Measurements are as follows:

1/2 cup strawberries
1 1/2 bananas - chopped.
1 1/2 cup spinach. 
1 cup greek yogurt
1tbsp Organic Honey
1tbsp Chia Seeds.

The milk measurements really depends on the consistency you like your smoothies. Sometimes, I add only enough to get everything blended together. And others I add 1 1/2 cup for a more liquid type smoothie. And I use 2% Milk. (I'm not much of an almond, soy person).

And there you have it, my 2 favorite "not really a breakfast" breakfast for those rushing mornings or just the mornings when I need a bit more energy. I am being Healthy too, which is totally needed!!!

  1. i always eat the same thing for breakfast.. 5 egg whites/onions/feta/spinach/5 slices of lunch meat lol

    1. That sounds seriously delicious. I maayyy have to try that out soon. :)
